WHAT IS BREAKPOINT 2019?

In June 2019, Robyn Moore, in association with Bright Ideas for Tennis, is attempting a monumental challenge.

She will hit 200,000 tennis shots in 30 days. In doing so, she will need to play for 8-10 hours per day for 30 consecutive days. Her shots will be recorded by the Swing™ App (on her Apple Watch) and she will average 1 shot every 4 seconds! Robyn, who suffers with PTSD herself, will be visiting 46 venues throughout the UK, including clubs, parks, schools, disability venues, and ATP/WTA Pro tournaments, and each day will be a festival of tennis - open to all to spectate, or participate. The final shots will be struck on the prestigious courts of the All England Community ground in Wimbledon on 30th June.

ROBYN’S STORY

My name is Robyn. I am 43 years old, and in 2016 I was diagnosed with PTSD.

I suffered flashbacks, felt isolated, and just wanted to give up. Then, on the advice of a fantastic psychologist, I took up tennis. Tennis helped steer me away from the constant battle in my head, and more importantly, I realised that I didn’t feel so alone anymore. At this point, I knew that so much more could be done to help people very much like myself. My idea soon became a reality as Breakpoint 2019 was born. It’s a very unique event, a tough physical and mental challenge, and it will have a life-changing impact for those that will benefit. Let the challenge begin.

SUPPORTED BY

The LTA’s vision is to open up tennis to many more people. Organisations like Bright Ideas for Tennis share this goal, and support our work to grow tennis by making it relevant, accessible, welcoming and enjoyable. We know tennis is a great way to improve and maintain good mental health, and can help combat anxiety and depression – that is why the LTA is fully supportive of Breakpoint 2019. Good luck Robyn!

Scott Lloyd, LTA CEO

I was overwhelmed when reading that someone had set out to raise so much for such a worthwhile cause. I'm truly honoured to be Robyn’s inspiration and I want to personally wish her the best of luck.
"It's so wonderfully brave of Robyn, and she is and should be our inspiration to speak out more about these matters..
